Biography
Monica Shukla-Belmontes, Ph.D., is Associate Dean for Curriculum, Assurance of Learning and Competency-Based Education in the School of Business and Professional Studies. Monica has been involved in the field of higher education since 2008. At UMass Global, she has taught MBA and undergraduate courses in Statistics, Managerial Economics, Entrepreneurship, and Global Business. Her extensive work in overseeing Competency-Based Education (CBE) programs has led to her presenting on CBE to the U.S. Department of Education, the California Competency-Based Education Collaborative, and the Competency Based Education Network.
Specifically, she has been the Project Manager for the development of five CBE programs and oversees Business and Information Technology Program Reviews and Assessments. In 2020, Monica was an Orange County Business Journal - Women in Business Award Nominee, and in 2019 she received 46th Congressional District Representative Lou Correa’s Women of the Year Award for her contributions to the field of higher education.
Previously, Monica worked with Chapman University’s Student Affairs Department and University Advancement as the Alumni Networks & Outreach Manager. She has also worked in the fields of human resources, special events management, and business operations with companies including Capital Group Companies, M S International, Inc., and the Disneyland Resort. She has been published in the Journal of Business Case Studies and received Best Paper at the Association for Global Business Conference. As an alumna of University of Massachusetts Global, she is also on the founding Board of Directors for the University of Massachusetts Global Alumni Association, and currently serves as Vice President.
