UMass Global Selected as a 2024 Military Times "Best for Vets" College
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (Jan. 12, 2025) — In recognition of our ongoing commitment to military students, spouses, and dependents, University of Massachusetts Global (UMass Global) is proud to announce its latest selection to the prestigious Military Times "Best for Vets" Colleges List. This 2024 recognition reflects UMass Global's focus on providing exceptional educational opportunities and support for military-affiliated students.
Military Times generates its college rankings through various categories. For 2024, it ranked UMass Global #14 for primarily online institutions and #18 in the West region. Out of 83 private/nonprofit schools, UMass Global ranked #43.
The Military Times "Best for Vets" Colleges List is highly regarded within the veteran and military community. Student success metrics (completion, retention, persistence, GPA) are the most important factors in determining the relative ranking of schools on this year’s list, followed closely by the range of military-specific resources, and the level of financial assistance offered.
UMass Global can trace its origins as a university directly to the U.S. military. Beginning in 1958, the university began providing education outreach to Marines serving at the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station in Orange County, California.
During the 2023-24 academic year, UMass Global had 1,449 military-affiliated students in our undergraduate and graduate programs. Over 10% of our students are military affiliated. On the UMass Global website, military members can utilize a military resources section devoted solely to their needs.
UMass Global is a 100 percent online university with over 55 degree, certificate, and credential offerings. Our flexible online programs mesh with the demands of military life and provide pathways for career advancement. We also provide up to 15 credits for military training and leadership. This enables those military students who qualify to earn an MBA or a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership in only seven courses.
