Become an Online Teacher
This certificate is an application-oriented program where students employ real-world tools through the lens of 21st Century learning theories to actively learn and demonstrate masterful understanding of the ISTE Standards (International Society for Technology in Education). It is designed for new or current educators who seek the skills to serve as effective instructors, curriculum designers or instructional leaders for PreK-12 and postsecondary education environments, in both online and blended modalities.
As a student you will:
- Learn how to employ best practices and 21st Century educational paradigms to examine, experiment, and assess the efficacy of online and blended teaching models.
- Master best practices for transformational blended and online pedagogy/andragogy through research on learning theories and higher-level cognition.
- Craft actionable understandings of today’s tools for engaging students, building community, and employing multiple forms of communication, including social media, to promote transferable learning of academic content.
- Develop ways to evaluate and create effective online assessments and design learner-centered, project-based assignments and assessments that meet academic standards.
- Examine relevant laws and regulations along with evaluating tools and strategies to build media and assure ADA accessibility for all students.

Admission Requirements
Students are required to be admitted to either the Master’s in Education or the Graduate Certificate program prior to registering for classes.
Applicants for this program must complete the formal application process with all required documents, which include:
- Completed application
- 2.75 grade point average (GPA)
- Official transcripts from all regionally accredited institutions where baccalaureate and/or post-baccalaureate coursework was completed or attempted
Only credits from regionally accredited institutions may be accepted in transfer. Failure to report any previous academic work at another college or university may be considered a violation of academic integrity.
